La educación sexual limitada o inexistente en algunos contextos genera problemas sociales que afectan el conocimiento y la expresión de la sexualidad, así como la salud sexual y reproductiva de los adolescentes. El alto índice de embarazos en la adolescencia, la existencia de infecciones de transmisión sexual, violencia, e irresponsabilidad en las relaciones de pareja, abandono escolar por estas causas, dan cuenta de la necesidad de atención a esta problemática. En el estudio realizado se emplearon métodos como el análisis-síntesis, el histórico-lógico, el inductivo-deductivo y análisis documental, predomina un enfoque cualitativo-descriptivo. La promoción de salud sexual y reproductiva es una responsabilidad, no solo del sector de Salud Pública, sino de todos los sectores de la sociedad, por tanto, el objetivo del presente artículo es: analizar la teoría existente sobre promoción de salud sexual y reproductiva de adolescentes como una necesidad en el contexto educativo actual.
Limited or non-existent sexual education in some contexts generates social problems that affect the knowledge and expression of sexuality, along with the sexual and reproductive health of adolescents. The high rate of teenage pregnancies, the existence of sexually transmitted infections, violence, and irresponsibility in relationships, as well as school dropout for these reasons, show the need for attention to this problem. Methods such as analysis-synthesis, historical-logical, inductive-deductive and document analysis were used in the study. A qualitative-descriptive approach predominates. The promotion of sexual and reproductive health is a responsibility, not only of the Public Health sector, but of all sectors of society. Therefore, the objective of this paper is: to analyze the existing theory on the promotion of sexual and reproductive health of adolescents as a necessity in the current educational context.
