Dominar la lengua inglesa es factor indispensable en el desempeño del profesional contemporáneo. El Ministerio de Educación Superior actualmente plantea una nueva política de perfeccionamiento de la enseñanza del inglés que responde al Marco Común Europeo de Referencia para las lenguas, este exige que los estudiantes universitarios alcancen el nivel A2, como requisito de graduación, lo que presupone el desarrollo de una competencia comunicativa cognoscitiva que involucra un adecuado dominio de las habilidades específicas del idioma inglés: expresión oral, expresión escrita, comprensión lectora y comprensión auditiva, aspecto que aún no se alcanza, pues los estudiantes no consiguen saber expresarse y comprender a otros, utilizando esta lengua extranjera, en sus dos formas: oral y escrita. El artículo que se presenta demuestra que mejores resultados se obtienen si se trabajan las habilidades de forma integradora. Diversos métodos y técnicas del nivel teórico, empírico y estadístico-matemático fueron aplicados para diagnosticar la situación actual, fundamentar la existencia de carencias y para validar la efectividad de la propuesta perteneciente a esta investigación que tuvo como objetivo general: Desarrollar habilidades específicas del idioma inglés de forma integradora en estudiantes matriculados en el nivel A1.
Mastering the English language is an indispensable factor in the development of the contemporaneous professional. Nowadays, the Ministry of High Education, establishes a new policy of improvement in the teaching process of the English language, answering to The Common European Framework of References for languages. It demands the achievement of the A2 level as requirement of graduation. Students have to develop an acceptable, cognitive communicative competence which includes a good mastery of the four specific abilities of the English language (oral expression, written expression, reading comprehension and listening comprehension), aspect that, it has not still been reached by the students. They are not able to use this foreign language in its both forms: orally and in written way. This research shows that better results in the assimilation of the specific abilities of the English language are obtained if teachers work them in an integrated way. Diverse methods and techniques from the empirical, theoretical and statistical levels were applied to diagnose the current situation, to found the existence of shortages, so as to validate the effectiveness of the proposal belonged of this research. Its main objective is: To develop the specific abilities of the English language in an integrated way in students from level A1.
