Introduction: “Conectatex”is a program to improve the writing skills of narrative texts in students of the secondary school that seeks to value the use of WhatsApp as a learning tool within the classrooms of public educational institutions of secondary level, in a context where using smart cell phones is prohibited and only communication teachers are allowed to become responsible for the development of this capacity. While true, there is some research done and WhatsApp is not considered to be a possible learning platform, as it is only approached as a means of communication for other purposes. Objective: This study aims to identify the type of influence exerted by the "Conectatex" program, as a learning tool for the writing of narrative texts. Methods: A quantitative approach was followed with an applied type, from the explanatory level and a quasiexperimental design. The population consisted of 1015 students from the secondary level. The sample was chosen considering an intentional nonprobabilistic sampling method and consisted of 28 schoolchildren (experimental group). The applied techniques were observation and instruments, testing and checklist. Parametric and non-parametric tests of Shapiro-Wilk and Wilcoxon were taken into account for normality analysis. Results: The obtained data show an approximate difference of 6 points between the initial (8.93) and final (14, 11) arithmetic means. Conclusions: The Conectatex program has a very significant influence on the writing of narrative texts.
