Abstract
Introduction: The global energy transition demands specialized technical formation. In Cuba, the creation of the Higher Technician in Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency program responded to this need, but it faced challenges from the educational system and gaps in competency-based formation. This article systematizes its design and implementation during the period 2014-2024 to extract critical knowledge. Objective: To systematize the practical experiences in creating the competency-based curriculum for the Higher Technician in Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency implemented in Cuba. Methods: Systematization of experiences was used with the purpose of extracting, from the lived practice, the construction and reconstruction of knowledge related to the different addressed topics, and the successes and failures of learning. Information collection techniques included: document analysis, in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus groups, participatory techniques, and triangulation. Results: The interrelated experiences over time and in different contexts were shared, which conditioned the fostering and robustness of the proposal, allowing an analysis of continuity in the generation of new knowledge and strategies, thus contributing to the development of similar initiatives. Conclusions: The Higher Technician curriculum constitutes an ongoing learning process, under the pilot modality, of a course with in-person sessions, tailored for the energy sector; and a reference for Cuba, which still requires real-time adjustments, institutional flexibility, and close monitoring of students and teachers.
