Abstract
This work proposes a web-based system to improve the management of the student residence at UNISS "José Martí Pérez," which traditionally faced challenges due to manual methods, such as disorganized data, duplicate records, and slow administrative processes. Developed using the Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology to ensure a structured and well-documented approach, the system employs modern technologies, including Nuxt.js (based on Vue.js) for the frontend, Node.js for the backend, and PostgreSQL as the database management system, leveraging its robustness and ability to handle complex data. Additionally, it integrates with the institutional academic system SIGENU to keep student information up to date and uses LDAP authentication to ensure secure access. The system centralizes all residence-related operations, including room assignments, resident registration (for both students and professors), scholarship management, and incident tracking, with distinct roles for administrative staff, residence supervisors, and university authorities. Evaluations conducted, including tests with the Lighthouse tool, confirmed that the system meets all functional and non-functional requirements, demonstrating tangible improvements such as faster processes, reduced errors, and greater administrative clarity. The work also includes user manuals and technical diagrams, along with suggestions for future enhancements, such as implementing resident evaluation modules and data audits to further optimize management.
