El presente trabajo resume los principales resultados alcanzados en el Consejo Popular Mayajigua en el municipio de Yaguajay, como parte de un proyecto de investigación en función de la tesis de maestría en “Gestión del Desarrollo Local”. El artículo pretendesocializar los principales resultados de la estrategia de intervención comunitaria dirigida a contribuir a la apropiación social del conocimiento en el uso racional del agua. Se realizó la revisión bibliográfica del objeto de estudio, así como la consulta a los documentos primarios en la apropiación social del conocimiento y el funcionamiento de los Consejos Populares. Se aplicaron métodos teóricos, empíricos y estadísticos matemáticos para el procesamiento de datos. El diagnóstico general realizado a los sujetos que integran la muestra, mostró las potencialidades y necesidades requeridas para el diseño de la estrategia, determinando dos núcleos básicos fundamentales para su accionar (la preparación del grupo asesor y a los pobladores) y organizar su implementación a partir de seis direcciones y 24 acciones. Su aplicación permitió valorar su efectividad a partir de la significatividad de la diferencia entre el estado inicial y período final, la cual permite apreciar que se contribuyó a la apropiación social del conocimiento en el uso racional del agua.
The present investigation resumes the main results in Mayajigua Popular Council in the municipality of Yaguajay. As a part of an investigation project in function to the mastery thesis in “Management of the Local Development”. The article pretends to socialize the main results of the strategy of community intervention. The bibliographic review was done on the aspects of the object of study, as well as the consultation of the primary documents in the social appropriation of knowledge and the functioning of the Popular Councils. Theoretical, empirical and mathematical statistical methods were used for data processing. The general diagnosis applied to the subjects included in the sample, showed the potentialities and needs required for the design of the strategy, determining two basic nuclei that are fundamental for its functioning (the preparation of the advisory group and the settlers) and to organize its implementation from six areas and 24 actions. Its application made possible to evaluate its effectiveness based on the significance of the difference between the initial state of the sample and its final period, which allows us to appreciate that it contributed to the social appropriation of knowledge in the rational use of water
