Abstract
enfrentarse a oponentes diestros.
vidas deportivas
This study investigates how laterality affects fencing performance, focusing on the comparison between lefthanded and righthanded fencers. Fencing, a sport that requires agility, precision and strategy, presents unique characteristics that can be influenced by the laterality of the athletes. Aspects such as technique, reaction speed and adaptability in combat situations are analyzed. Through a mixed methodology that includes quantitative and qualitative analysis, data is collected from competitions and training, as well as interviews with coaches and athletes. The results indicate that lefthanded fencers may benefit from their rarity in the sport, giving them tactical advantages when facing righthanded opponents. However, specific challenges are also observed, such as the lack of resources and specialized training. This analysis not only contributes to the understanding of the influence of laterality on sports performance, but also offers recommendations for coaches and athletes on how to maximize individual strengths and overcome the weaknesses associated with laterality. The findings suggest that greater attention to laterality could optimize performance in combat sports. tactical, and psychological based on these potentialities and in this way contribute to raising sports performance..
