Abstract
Introduction: Working with sets is one of the most important areas of study included in the development of early mathematical concepts and constitutes an effective means for the proper development of the intellectual education of children attending preschools. Objective: To implement a variety of activities that contribute to the development of the ability to identify and form sets based on qualitative aspects in 5-year-old children at the "Los Reyecitos" preschool. Materials and Methods: In order to assess the current state of the sample, a diagnostic study was conducted using various methods. An observation guide was applied to 20 children at the "Los Reyecitos" daycare center. Results and Discussion: The diagnosis identified the main strengths and weaknesses in the area of Elementary Mathematical Notions, specifically in the ability to identify and form sets. Based on the qualitative aspect, in the fifth year of life at the "Los Reyecitos" daycare center, a variety of activities were implemented that employed different forms of the educational process. Conclusions: The results achieved during the research demonstrated the effectiveness of the varied activities implemented, as there were positive transformations in the sample. The varied activities proposed are tailored to the needs and requirements of the early childhood educational process specific to these ages, which will allow for improvement through the activities that must be undertaken to ensure the development of infants.
