In this work an autonomous photovoltaic system was design for the Nuclear Medicine Department of “Camilo Cienfuegos” Provincial Hospital of Sancti Spíritus. It was used the methodology of calculation of the enterprise Sunfields Europe of Spain. The necessary number of solar panels, batteries, regulators and investors were determined; as well as the period of recovery of the investment, the net added value and the emissions of polluting gases: CO2, SO2 and NOx that would be stopped to emit. It was concluded that for the project of the photovoltaic installation, selecting the voltage of the batteries and determining the pick solar hours is important. It was also concluded that this project is feasible from the economic point of view, with half-day of autonomy.
